1st New Zealand and Australian Fish Immunology workshop 2011

Science Centres: Aquatic Biodiversity and Biosecurity, Fisheries

NIWA and the University of Tasmania present the first New Zealand and Australian Fish Immunology Workshop held in Wellington, NZ.

The objective of the workship is to provide participants with advanced knowledge, both theorectical and practical, on the immune system of fish. It will introduce basic and advanced knowledge on fish welfare, immunoprophylaxis in aquaculture and the evolution of the immune system. It is directed at academic and company researchers as well as technicians and management staff in the aquaculture industry.

It will cover a combination of one hour lectures and lab practical sessions on fish innate and adaptive immune responses, immunopathalogy of relevant diseases in fish farming, assessment of vaccine effectiveness, fish immune cells and organs. The full program is to be announced.

Masters and PhD students may be eligible for a reduced fee.
